Fall Growing Up Smockingbird Holidays Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.

Growing up we enjoyed huge Thanksgiving dinners at Grandma's house.  Tables of food snaked from the kitchen into the rest of the house.  Tons of people came.  Family.  Extended family.  Family friends.  Pretty much anybody who didn't have a place to go was welcome.  I loved the house full and buzzing with excitement.

Thanksgiving always started early with cooking, mimosas, the Macy's parade, and kids sneaking rolls from the table . . . then progressed to Grandpa carving the bird and a big midday meal with stories and so much laughter . . . then a more subdued afternoon hanging out in the "Florida room" with Pictionary and dessert and possibly circling things in the Sears catalog. . . then of course leftovers and more laughter.  I enjoyed Aunt Sue's cranberry-orange dish (still my favorite) and all the other familiar tastes of home.  But mostly I loved how time seemed to slow down as we all enjoyed simply being together.

Time doesn't slow down enough these days.  Some days I don't know where the day went.  I am glad that at least once a year we are reminded to pause and give thanks.  So.  I truly am grateful for the little community that has grown with Smockingbird.  I appreciate SO MUCH the mommies who volunteer their time to help behind the scenes. I adore the sweet girlies who wear our label.  I am grateful for our growing team of brand reps and admins and their enthusiasm for the brand.  I love our playful BST page.  I am incredibly fortunate to have found true friends through this process.  In many ways the Smockingbird community feels like a house full of family.  And because of that, my heart is full.  Thank you.

XO Smockingbird
